Is this an elephant ear and if so, now what?

Ok i was told this was a cup mushroom and was perfect for filling gaps in the tank because it was so big. Well now I'm reading about these "elephant eared" mushrooms that eat FISH!!!!!!

so i thought i'd go to the pros.

It does look like it. Small perching fishes and bottom feeders are particularly at risk. Many mushroom hobbyists prize these creatures, and will happily take it off your hands.

It sure is... elephant ear, cup mushroom, whatever- Amplexidiscus sp. Ive had 1 very large one before, and currently have 3 smaller ones and have never had an issue, though it is possible. Fish that move slowly or tend to sit on the ground (gobies, dragonettes, cardinalfish, seahorses, etc) can definitly be eaten. Its actually a really cool process to watch, the whole thing curls up like its got a drawstring top- drop a piece of shrimp or fish on it and watch.
Ild be happy to take it off your hands ;) (one that size goes for around $75-$100 around this area)

I have 4 of them in my 55 gal tank, they eat like pigs but have never hurt any fish or any of my shrimp. If they catch any food I through in there they almost turn themselve inside out eating. They get huge mine are the size of softballs. I just about am running out of room for them!

Well I bought it because of sheer size alone. It's freaking HUGE and fills alot of dead space in the tank. It's very pretty, I just don't want it using my clowns as an after diner mint ;)

you should be fine as long as your clowns aren't total idiots. I had a lawnmower blenny who loved to taunt my giant cup with a free meal. he would wait till the shroom had almost closed up and then swim out everytime.
