Is this an RBTA?

I purchased this about a year ago from a fairly reputable LFS (Dolphin Pet Village in San Jose) - as a RBTA...

It has split several times since I've owned it - and one person who I sold a clone to PM'ed me back and told me he "confirmed" with someone else that it isn't an RBTA.

Well, as you can see - it has bubble-tips, and is red (but not the beautiful "rose" I've seen other RBTAs). So I'm looking for an expert to answer the question (It split again - and I want to sell the clone, but don't want to advertise it incorrectly).

It's a BTA, but doesn't look rose colored in that pic to me.

I'm no expert but I'd put money down that your nem is just a BTA. Rose BTA's or LTA's have a deep red color to them.

They are not your typical green either, seems to me that those are cross between green and rose, have seen some around.

This is the same color as what I've seen sold as RBTAs at one of the more popular, and reputable, LFSs (Aquatic Gallery in Milpitas)... I personally have never seen one "ruby" red. Even their monster (basket-ball sized) isn't a ruby color...

The color in this picture is "true" as well...

Got pictures of it from the side or closer up?

I have seen some E.Quads that had heavy green speckles on them but when fully extended had a lot more pink then green....I always though to be extremely nice looking and outside of the norm.

Rose BTA is not LTA different species.

Is it getting a lot of light? They have stronger coloration under bright lights, both because they have more color and it's easier to see under brighter lights. If it's off to the side like that it might not be showing off its true colors.

It's under a 175W MH 14K + 2x55W A03s in a 20GH aquarium. I think that's a lot of light.

Here is my BTA after 2 month under 175 W 14000K MH. It still has no color.

it is very badly bleached

Do you give it additional feedings such as pieces of shrimp or fish?

Based off the picture, it doesn't show any coloring that would resemble a RBTA but it definately is a nice BTA at that. Nice find.

Mine looks like yours. It seems to be slowly improving though.

You have a BTA. At this point, I think that all of them with that brownish color have the possibility to become either a true RBTA or GBTA. Make sure that you are feeding twice a week, and water parameters are as stable as possible.
