is this anenome to far gone to save?

I haven't had any luck with trading (her, him , it) to someone with the lighting it needs. Is it beyond saving? Would I be better off takeing it out of the tank and ending it missery?

Well, I tried one just like that a few months ago because I thought they were supposed to look like they do when you buy them and it didn't make it. It looked just like yours after a while with the mouth gaping and all. I did a lot of reasearch on how to save it but didn't have any luck.

I wouldn't give up on it... Of course, I don't give up on anything, sometimes to detriment for the tank. I'm working on that. If I had a place to put it... Is it under PC's? What kind of flow? Do the clowns play in it at all?

it's a 24g nanocube with 2 36 watt 50/50's, 1 36 watt 10,000 k and 1 36 watt acnintic flow is 1 Maxi-jet 1200 Powerhead

I wouldn't give up on it. That is exactly how mine looked when I bought them. They turned the healthy brown w/ purple tips and one is now bigger than a plate. I had to give the other away because it started growing at such a fast pace also.

Are you feeding it?

i feed it a freeze dried jumbo krill sunday. how much lighting do you have on your's?

I do have 150w MH's but I will say that one (the smaller of the two) located itself in a low light area.

How long have you had the tank up?

Check out this thread Roy. I posted the same thing over in the anemone forum. There is one person who thinks it possible with daily feedings. In it's present state, i would not try moving it. The stress of acclimation is especially difficult on anemone, even healthy ones. Try feeding it daily. If it's important enough to you, i would also change out your actinic lamps with some daylights until it recovers. That would increase your par dramatically. It most definately needs DAILY feedings though. I would say smaller, twice a day feedings if it's still accepting. I have some super selco (twice as concentrated as selcon) that you could enrich the krill with. I even have some insulin syringes we could inject some fresh shrimp with to help it along. Don't kill it man. Give it every shot you possibly can.

Here's the latest in my anenome saga.
I changed out the actnintic for a 50/50 (couldn't find a 10,000k here in town). Then I move the anenome up higher in the tank. maybe being closer to the lights may help.

try moving it up by where the GSP is it might help.

I guess I should have worded what I wrote a little differently. I didn't mean you should give up on it. I think it looks much better in the last pictures than the first. From what I read you really shouldn't try to feed it too much at first because it stresses it more if it is too weak to eat. I am not an expert by far though, just that is what I read.

Well the saga continues. Last night I had to come back into the office for something I forgot. the anenome looked the best it had thus far, it's tenticles were streched out long and it was all happy looking.

This morning i come in to find it upside down on the bottom of the tank. I reach in and place it back on the rock were it was before and it now looks worse than ever. javascript:smilie('')

It looks great now! Have you tried giving it fresh crab meat? I pick up a small pack every so often for a few dollars at walmart and slice it up to feed my Ricordeas and mushrooms. They love it! I have also noticed they grow quicker when I do that.

I'll try that. I need to go to the store today anyways.

It looked this way after the lights had been off for a couple hours. This morning It looks like it did yesterday. But at least it not on the bottom of the tank this morning.
