Is this apstasia

Hello I just got my 50lbs of live rock in my tank to start cycling it. Noticed these on the rock is it apstasia?

Great read definitely going to be wearing gloves when my hands are in the tank. I wonder if they will survive the tanks nitrogen cycle.
 
While that palytoxin is no joke, don't read TOO much into it. Some people can't eat penuts, shellfish etc... I think you put yourself at more risk by driving to the LFS as opposed to bringing back some polyps... When you jump in that car your playing for keeps... ;)
 
Nice find. It should survive the cycle handily. Most corals really just tuck down during the obnoxious part of the cycle and do fine. It's fish that have trouble.

There is a difference between an allergy and a toxin that effects all humans. What those effects will be depends on the amount of exposure and individual tolerances. But this is something that effects everyone at some level from sever rash, 3rd degree burn like symptoms, loss of eye sight, paralysis, and death among many other problems.

No, don't freak out that you have them but if you plan on moving them around the tank, pulling some out to weed them back, frag them, etc. please take precautions not to touch with bare skin directly, ware eye protection as they can "spit", and I would even were a mask. I would even go as far as wearing gloves that protect the entire arm if moving them around.

Paranoid? Maybe, but I will live another day or not have to be out of work for weeks at a time on the off chance I have a sever reaction. I don't think I want to test how bad a reaction I can have or wait for them to squirt me in the eyes. Yes, that has happened to many people and the results are not good. And I do have some zoa's and some paly's.

You sound scared to me... Just a cloudy day, no doubt...

There's a reason Y I turned down that tag that you have.... Make sure your right,,,cus if your wrong, then.....

Just highly cautious. As I am with any harmful chemicals or poisons. I suggest the same level of precaution with something like muriatic acid as well.
 
No doubt... Then again, you will loose this fight with me though... That TAG you have might put you to shame... I'm just saying...
 
How big is the tank? "Sometimes" a recommendation like this is just not right...

Peppermint shrimp do not always eat Aiptasia. Snails can flip themselves over given time. Tap water is not all bad etc... I'm just saying...
