Is this Caluerpa?

In the last two weeks this algae really started growing on my rock. I'm worried it might be some kind of caluerpa.

Anyone can ID this? Thanks!

Dont know but im interested. i saw a little patch on a rock- maybe the size of a thumb nail. clean up crew stays away from it, but they seem to get most everything else. i dont have any other kind of algae growinf besides coralline.

Same here. Had a bout of cyano but it went away - now this, the first real algae in my tank. It looks plasticky, as if artificial, the surface of the leaves is very smooth. I have plenty of CUC but none of the snails or hermits touches this stuff. Don't know what to do...

Looks like a type of Caulerpa to me. It's hard identifying the more uncommon types like this one. Is it growing fast runners? It's a real pain to keep trimmed and it will suddenly start spreading to opposite ends of your tank. Once it finds it happy place it's hard to get rid of.

If you have a refugium you can remove it all and toss in there otherwise I would completely eradicate it. Hope this helps!

It's growing really fast. The trouble is that this side of the LR is towards the window, so some daylight comes into the tank at precisely this spot.
I will try to prune it and eradicate it. The question is should I take all the bits and peaces out of the tank or it's okay to let them flow into the filter and pick them up from there?

If you don't grab all the pieces you run the risk of spreading it all over your tank. Make sure you are pulling everything out, that is if you are wanting to completely eradicate it.
