Is this chip a big deal?

So this chip popped up out of nowhere and I only just noticed it... it's in the corner overflow section of my 120. Tank has never been wet and I have no idea if I got the tank this way - I've had it about 2 years. In the last pic, if you look close, you can see where it's scalloped inside the panel of glass.

No if you don't see any cracks going to any seams. I have a chip like this and a few other chips along the rimless edge.

It's on the side, in the area of the overflow, not on the top of a rimless.

So this is near the top of the aquarium? It's hard to tell from pictures, but does the chip go very deep into the seam. If the majority of the silicone is still in contact with the panel, and it's near the top, you are probably okay. This is your tank though, ultimately you will have to decide if you are comfortable with setting up a new aquarium with the chip. I would fresh water test at a minimum at any rate.

On your first picture it kind of looks like they silicone over the crack when cleaning up the seam, which would suggest the builder knew about it and had no concern. I have seen worse; it is all about the strength of the silicone seam and no cracks in the glass. Chips are OK and happen when cutting the glass. A good tank manufacturer will clean up edges for better safety and appeal. Rimless tanks you would have to polish the edges. I agree with Nick's statement, nothing appealing about rimless tanks anymore. I truly hate my 93 cube!
