Is this considered a misbar regal angel?

I picked it up yesterday for $50 and it was eating brine.....couldn't pass on it.

See i thought how the yellow bar forked at the top and the silver line stopped and didnt extend out made it one?

looks 'defective' to me...shouldn't have paid more than $49!

Seriously...Good luck with it...my Regal is one of my favorites...thinking to get another (maybe Red Sea)

Definitely not a misbar. Still looks like a nice regal though.

Am I missing something? I don't think "misbar" means anything more than the literal definition of having imperfect stripes. I see imperfect stripes towards the rear of the dorsal fin, and in front of the tail. Soooo, technically, yes, you can call that fish a misbar regal. It just isn't as dramatic as some others. It will be interesting to know if those imperfections chnage as the fish grows.

This fish appears to stiil be changing to me. If you go by SDguy's guidelines
than all regals would be misbars at sometime during their growth to adult hood.

It looks like its a changeling to me also. As with all transforming angels time will tell what the fish will finally look like as a full adult, this is a beautiful fish and a very nice get. Best of luck with the regal.

I'm not putting forth any guidelines. I'm simply stating that the term "misbar" refers to nothing more than stripe aberration in regal angels. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

It must be a misbar, the other side is totally normal in pattern. The best news is that it is eating NLS 3mm pellets with all of the other fish. I had to move my flagfin angel into a 40 gallon section in my sump setup due to behavior. Best move I made. I really wanted a yellow belly, but I wanted a healthy eating regal even more regardless of color. So far so good. It gets along just fine with the majestic, emperor, blueface and flame. The powder blue and clown tangs left it alone after about 2 minutes. I had been wanting one of these for ever. Had a yellow belly that was just about ready for the main tank when the powerhead went out in the tank and there was no circulation. I didn't qt this one, but the store does treat full doseage prazi and copper all of the time. Same store I got my big clown tang from 3 years ago.

Well, if its defective, you probably want to get rid of it!
I have a tank with space for it. What a coincedence! ROFLOL
Seriously, who cares what you call it? Its a Regal, one of my personal "Grail Fish"!
