Is this cyano???

Hi guys

So my tank is about 5 weeks old. Just starting to see diatoms but then noticed this. Ive seen this in some photos on here. Is this cyano? I bubbles on the diatoms that just showed up a few days ago. Should I leave this alone or do something about it?

Looks like diatoms to me. How long has your tank been set up?

As you can probably see by my question, I read the title and went straight to the picture. That's diatoms.

cyano will be deep red and slimy.

And don't worry, you'll probably see some cyano too. New tanks tend to go through several blooms of life. Diatoms, cyano, film algae, dinos, hair algae, bubble algae, copepods, collonista snails, asterina stars, micro brittle stars, bristleworms, spaghetti worms....you will see lots of life popping up over the first year or more. Sit back and enjoy the show (and keep up your maintenance).
