IMO it is very hard to make that determination with the pic it could be bleached. During the last three days did you notice tissue loss or just the color slowly disappearing?
Take a look at the branches and look closely to see if there are still polyps, if not then its most likely dead if there are still polyps then it is bleached. It kind of looks like there is still color on some of the tips which would indicate RTN Rapid tissue necrosis which equals not alive also.

pretty much looks dead..I have a ball that almost looks like that on my tv stand..makes a good conversation piece for non reefers lol

dangerous question to ask him!

dangerous question to ask him!

does the Seriatopora have polyps or not?
(we can't tell from the pic!)

IMO and from what I CAN see in that pic the coral appears alive

In my first post the comment about tissue necrosis was meant as a possibility based in part by there looking to be tissue/color on the tips but it is hard to tell

Have you changed lighting or dosing recently? Any Other corals affected?

My guess is rtn from the base up, but it is just a guess.

If its got polyps, its got a shot. Personally, I'd test out everything. If there is nothing glaringly abnormal, I might move it down.

How long have you had it?
Have you moved it recently?

sorry...

sorry...

but this is like trying to pull teeth!

let us know about the polyps/flesh before you move the coral lower.

Hey- is that an Acan next to the Seriatopora?

I'm afraid that these two pics are not showing us what we need to see to diagnose this corals condition. Can you get a clear shot closer up so we can see if it has polyps or can you inspect it thoroughly to see if it has polyps, this is going to tell the story.

One more thing, what kind/color Is the coral? Ponape birdsnest, brown, green??

Terry, we really need to know if there are polyps still visible on the coral to be able to help you. It looks like there's still some color on the tips which could be an encouraging sign. But again we really need that info.

Polyps yes or no? Let us know :D

Unless my eyes are playing tricks on me, I don't see any polyps/tissue... aka dead. Have you tested your parameters?

You say it turned white within three days, which leads me to believe that it was rapid tissue necrosis that killed your coral. In my experience, that happens when the coral is suddenly severely stressed. Any changes?

I can't see any polyps . There is a small section that is still brown. I did have high cal 525 but took care of that. My alk was 8.4
