okay, so i currently use 5g jugs to make my RO/DI water....and it is painful for me to dump 4 or so full 5g pails of waste water to fill a single good 5g jug...my inline TDS meter says my incoming water is 160pm...

would it be feasible for me to scrap the ro membrane and all the other filters in the unit and just run the 3 canisters full of DI resin? and then recharge it according to the guidelines set out in the thread about recharging DI resin?

since my waste line isnt directly hooked up to anything other then a 5g pail i have to carry and dump in the tub, it really hurts to watch all that money and resource going down the drain...

anyway what are your thoughts on running just DI...and completely getting rid of my waste water woes? water is cheap, but wheni dump 4g a week it adds up....what kinda systems are you guys running that require 20,30,50+ gallons per day using?

Some people I know use multiple DIs after the carbon blocks and pre filters. You can recharge the resin fairly easy once you have enough of it.

16g isnt much. thats about 10 toilet flushes a water change or a few minutes in the shower. I would rather hook the drain line into a drain and not look at it while keeping the RO unit as is.
