Hey peps..

Got them week ago.. Everything was great. Now this showed up on one of them... Not sure if this is other fish picking on him or what? Also he is not eating.. :( Not sure if this is just stress from shipping and other tank mates? Or should I start setting QT and use some Furan-2 and move just him to QT? Any help welcome.. thank You.

It actually looks like the beginning of Brooklynella (Clownfish Disease). It's hard to tell tho because the fish is already white. Brooklynella is fatal if not treated immediately. Keep a close eye on if the skin starts sloughing off; This would be clownfish disease. The ONLY thing that cures it is Formalyn.

My advise: Set up a Hospital tank now and be prepared to remove the fish when it shows signs of distress, i.e. can't swim well, doesn't eat, easy to net, etc. If you treat with formalyn, follow the instructions exactly. Add an airstone as formalyn depletes oxygen from the water.

well I have 10G QT set. Simple way, tank, heater, small filter with carbon and sponge now, some ornaments.. Matched the salinity to my display tank, temperature of course, used fresh batch of salt water I was mixing since yesterday. I do have Formalin MS by fishvet. Havent used it yet and dont really know how.. well, confused about it more.. If I would decide to do formalin dip.. it says to do 20 drips per gallon and treat fish for up to 50 min. But, do I need any air stone in that container? do I need heather to keep the temp. steady? it doesnt say anywhere :(

Also I am assuming I need to mix fresh batch of saltwater for that formalin dip and not use water from my display tank?

Still dont know if the fish even have Brooklynella ? At this point this one clown hangs around with the second one.. The second one eats and swims much more than the forst one. Should I just wait then and see what happen? Or do that Formalin Dip no matter what?

i just dont want stress that fish more.

Thanks

Brook is pretty rare in captive bred clown. It looks like you have more then 2clowns in there. That is a recipie for disaster. Could def be fin nipping. I would get rid of any additional clowns beside the platinum pair especially after all you went through to get them.

SkuIV, thanks for replay.

That snowflake is gone already. As soon as I noticed the fin problem on my platinum, I pulled out that snowflake clown and moved him to another tank. So, no longer extra clown there. Problem now is to get That one platinum clown to eat. They hang together almost all day, but only one is eating.

Makes me wonder if other fish in that tank stress them out?

Green chromis, flashers wrasser, anthias, baby size blue tang.

My tank is barebottom.

I would try and feed NLS TherA + pelletts and siphon up whatever they wont eat. I have yet to see a fish (other than large predators) that will not take NLS pelletts.

Any update on this? Has he started eating again with the snowflake out of the tank?

nope he is not eating.. here is whats going on:

-both of them hang most the time in one spot in tank.. strange area cause there is nothing really... left back corner of tank, far away from anemones :(

- one of them is interested in food and acting normal and also eating.. not eating like a pig but eating. I tried pellets and live baby brain shrimp. He ate both. He wont touch frozen mysis though.

- today I moved the weak one to QT. Will see how that goes. Pretty much every time when I got food in tank, he wasnt interested at all. Kinda sluggish too.. not to much interest in swimming.. very opposite to the other clown.

Personally I would QT them together. If the one fish requires QT for any substantial time you risk them both turning female and then they will never pair. I would also try some live black worms to see if he will take those. Did you try the specific brand of pellets that I recommended? They have a GIANT overload of nutrients so that even if the fish just takes a couple they are getting their full share of nutrients.

havent tried it yet.. all I have here is Petco and Petsmart.. will have to check if any of them cary it.. doubt it.

Also, is it a good idea to use Furan 2 in QT and see if that helps?

The petco here does have the New Life Spectrum Ther A+. I would use some Marcyn-2 if you suspect fin rot but honestly it looks JUST like one my my maroons did after trying to pair them up so I am still suspecting the snowflake or other platinum of fin nipping.
