A larger chromis actually did this to my wussy maroon clown

My question is, is this going to kill him? Will this area regrow? I am in disbelief here...a maroon clown being owned by chromis.

That doesn't look too bad and should heal ok on its own, just watch out for any signs of infection. However, if the chromis is still picking on him, then expect more damage to be done and a bad outcome.

yea my clown would never let that happen. His fin will regrow its like hair but I would def. separate the two. btw nice clown.

I neglected to mention that he is a tank raised gold stipe maroon so I figure that's probably why he is so docile.

I agree that the crhomis could do more damage and the clown could become infected and even die. Just the stress alone from being picked on ca cause a disease. I would seperate the chromis If you can.

tails regrow just fine. My blue damsel was getting picked on at the LFS so i bought him and he was mising half his tail, now you couldn't tell it was ever damaged.

Something happened to me like this where my coral beauty beat on a kole tang, however after 2 weeks they stopped fighting and the tail of my kole tang grew back.

My yellow striped maroon clown had the same problem with a couple of yellow tail damsels. They adjusted after a copuple of weeks and the tail healed fine. He's now happily adopted a little anemone and is doing great.

It shouldn't be too much of a problem, however, prolonged fighting is definitely an issue. Do not let the problem persist, or disease can result from stress of being chased, as well as wounds continually being inflicted (which also raises chances of infection). The chromis is also being stressed by chasing the clown.

a chromis cost what about 4$ and a maroon clown cost around 25-30$
i would flush the chromis and chalk it up to experience
