I've never seen this before. Anyone have any idea what's going on here?

I had one do that before - looked exactly the same, including not all areas w/ the eggs{?} I suspected it was spawning as well. None of the other gorgorians in the tank participated, even though I had another of the same species. And I was never sure why it happened. After a few days it returned to its normal appearance. Did you recently purchase yours? I think it occured soon after I purchased mine (it was almost three years ago when it happened, so I would have to check the date of the photos to be sure.) Thanks for sharing the photo.

Elysia - I did just buy it actually. I think I happened the second night I had it. It's still releasing eggs.

Ah, then I think my memory is serving me correctly. I think that eventually a peppermint or cleaner shrimp began to eat some of the eggs(?) (gametes?) that released from the gorg, but I don't recall any other animals getting in on the act. Of course, I didn't have much in my tank at the time, either. The gorg went on to grow for me, so I hope that yours does the same.

Hello

probably it is a Pseudopterogorgia (Kukenthal 1919)

the color of these gorgonias there usually happen in: red, yellow, orange, brown, pink, violet and white. more than 1 color, usually only 2, may occur on a single colony, e.g. red yellow, or pink, violet and white. Azoox.

I have seen some spawnings with the widespread polyps, but thus never, but it is probable that if it was a spawning
