Not sure what's on my trigger's fin. I always quarantine my fish and I'm hoping it's not ich. Appreciate your help thank you.

Oh okay great. I tested my water and everything is perfect. Everyone is eating well and I also add vitamin c to the tank

Thanks so much guys.

IME; soaking the fish's food in vitamin supplements (i.e. Selcon, Zoecon, Vita-chem, even Omega 3 fish oil) seems to accelerate the "healing process". Probably because it boosts the immune system.

Is this confined to just the fins? Anything on the body? Are you seeing any tiny white dots (think salt or sugar sprinkles) anywhere on the fish?

I've read that Lympho is contagious, but have never actually witnessed it for myself. And I've owned A LOT of fish with Lympho in my lifetime.

Another possibility is this could be some sort of bacterial infection on the fins, but I'm hesitant to suggest that as treatment is much more invasive.

Can I add maracyn 2 for saltwater to my main tank? It's going to be a pain to take all of my fish out and treat.

It's mainly fish with a couple anemones

Hmm. I would ask in the "Anemones & Clownfish" forum which antibiotics can be safely used with your anemone. I know folks over there will prophylactically treat carpets with antibiotics for bacterial infections. But I don't know which ones they consider "safe".

Okay so other then the anemone it should be okay? I can take the anemone out and put it in my office aquarium at work. So would you recommend maracyn for treatment?

I'm still not 100% sure this is a bacterial infection. But if you wanted to treat with Maracyn... use both Maracyn 1 & 2. I've used that combination before with no negative impact to biological filtration. But never with corals/inverts. But if all you have is fish & the anemones - my only concern would be how the antibiotics (erythromycin & minocycline) contained therein would impact the anemones.

I'm pretty sure the erythromycin is OK - but I'm not sure about the minocycline.

I can't seem to find maracyn for saltwater but only for fresh. Can I use the fresh version?
