Is this Ich?

I noticed this on the purple tang today. I fear it is ich. With this being my first tank I'm pretty sure I know the answer but want some other opinions. It was already treated in quarantine before putting him in the main tank. Should I put him back in quarantine and treat again or will this stress him out too much? He is eating fine and not scratching himself on rocks or gasping for air? Thoughts and treatment ideas? He is already in my display tank with 5 other fish so I fear the damage is done...

Yes, I'm sorry that is ich. For proper treatment, all fish should be pulled and treated and let the tank run fallow for 76 days.

I don't know what other fish you have in there but that will help us to give you some options on treating. Zebrasoma tangs are more sensitive to cupramine. It is really hit or miss. Chelated copper like coppersafe may be your choice here. CP is another option if you don't have any wrasses, anthias, or a hippo/regal tang.

What did you use to treat in QT?

I used cupramine and Praziquantel. I have two clownfish, yellowed jawfish, kole tang, and yellow tang in the tank.

Do you mind telling me how you did your QT, did you tank have any fallow time, if so how much?

It's a 20 gallon tank with bare bottom. The tangs were in QT for 2 weeks while being treated with cupramine and praziquantel. No real fallow time. Maybe a day or two max

30 days minimum for cupramine to work on Ich

So the other fish were not Qt'd? Sorry I'm asking so many questions, I'm just trying to help you figure out how you got it.

All your fish will need treated. Since you have two zebrasoma tangs that were already exposed to ionic copper, I would recommend a chelated copper like coppersafe. All the fish you have will handle it fine. Your tank will have to go fishless for 76 days as well to eradicate ich.
