I think I saw one for sale on RC for a lot and found one on a website for 60 bucks. Any idea what it is? They had it listed as ball tip.

Its not really an anemone. Its a corallimorpharian, related to mushrooms.

They are reported to have a pretty potent sting and my eat small fish.

What is the color of the base? The Japanese chocolate anemone is expensive and has a brown or chocolate column. From the pic it is hard for me to tell what it is.

I could have sworn a guy from RC was selling one as a japanese chocolate something. Its very cool looking.

They come in various colors. They call them anemones for obvious reasons, but they are not really. Some are also bright red/orange. Like many things in this hobby, they are not really rare, just very few people collect them.

I've never even seen those for sale.. well.. at least not by the Japanese Chocolate Anemone name....

They are just recently being collected in larger numbers as I have seen about 4 different color morphs available for sale this year but they were pretty much unheard of prior to the recent influx.
I have one of the red/orange variants and have kept it for several months. Like Phender said they carry a potent sting and I have personally seen mine grab a large fairy wrasse. They appear to be about as hardy as a Ricordea and are known to reproduce in similar fashion but not as readily as a standard mushroom. They are also non-photosynthetic and I find that they open and extend their tentacles to try and catch food at night.
