Is this normal/ok?

wood would be alot better choice then foam. you could always use something like web crete or even body filler.

I noticed my stand surface was not level so I got a sheet of 1/2" foam insulation from the hardware store. I cut out the exact dimensons of the outside footprint of my 125g tanks bottom trim piece and left ~3/4" on the inside (a little more than the actual trim's contact width). You can come by (Chico ;)) and see how it has compressed to make up for the differences in level. The 1/2" was white kind which will contrast exactly with the black trim/stand but I believe it will work for your situation. And alas, white is better than the foam's thicker PINK cousin. :lol:

ha ha... I just tried but alas the camera isn't working well (or more likely it is the operator) right now. I'll try again tomorrow.
