Is this normal?

Hammer coral has 2 or 3 very long bits coming from it, far longer than the rest of it. Is this normal behaviour?

Yes absolutely normal. Trying to sting any other coral nearby.

Excellent picture, they are quite known to "torch" others.

Just keep others far enough away. I group mine together, but only in one area.
