Is this OK for an BTA?

I've got a 14 gallon biocube that's been up for 6 months now :)

If I were to get a lighting upgrade (I'm thinking 150 watt sunpod). Would it be ok to get the BTA the same day, and let him be in the tank while I'm acclimating the rest of the corals\fish to the new HQI lights ? (I plan to just acclimate the tank to the new lights by starting out with maybe a 3-4 hour light period, and gradually move it up to around an 8-9 hour day)

Thanks for any input !

im not really sure on that because i've never switched lighting. i would say an hour but let someones else answer that.

I'm thinking a MH on a 14 gallon tank with a BTA might not be a good thing. Tank is too small and subject to temp and salinity swings. It can probably be done, especially with a BTA, but imo any nem in a tank this size in not a good idea.

Well, I keep the room cooler than the temp on the heater, with a heater in the tank. So the tank stays at a constant temp of 80 degrees. Also, I top off everyday to the same mark on the BC's top off meter, so salinity changes very minimal. :o

I have to agree, even without much feedings, even BTAs will get very large. The last one that I had was over 15" across when I sold it.

74??? Why?
Anything I've read say 78-80 for nems.

I keep all of my anemones (( currently 4 Haddonis, and 1 LTA -- used to keep 9+ BTAs )) b/t 78 and 83.

i said 74 because the MH is going to raise the temp. so if you keep it cooler it wont matter as much. i keep my tank at 72-74 and its doing great. i have 3 nems atm.

Hey, so I'm going to have to do some rearranging of rocks\corals in my tank when I get the BTA. The lights should get here soon as well.

So, I'll get off school and the lights should be here.. but I don't want to have to fumble around with the new lighting and get it set up, then go get the anemone, only to come back and have to rearrange my tank while its acclimating, and then my timers have turned off the lights a couple minutes after I finally add the BTA.

I would wait and get the BTA later, but I'm going to be busy for quite awhile after the day I get the lights... And I've been so anxious to get a BTA! I'm not very patient when it comes down to the last few days of a long wait!!

I guess my question is, would the BTA be ok in my BC for the one day before the lights get here... just under the stock PC lights? The sunpod would be added the next day..

It should be, but make sure to acclimate it to the new lights. IMO layers of window screening works the best.

Though I am still not a fan of keeping a hosting anemone in this small of a tank. Make sure to keep an eye on your parameters, they can change fast in a small tank.
