Is this pinched mantle?

New to clams, not new to the hobby. I picked up this dersa last week and it just doesn't look fully open. What are your thoughts? If it is pinched mantle, do I go strait for the fresh water dip or do the activated carbon route?

I'm new to clams too but your's is a lot more open then mine. Kinda hard to tell your lighting but he may be wanting more light being open like that.

Too little lighting is not the issue, perhaps to much lighting. 6 36in t-5's bulbs light the tank.

Not pinched mantle. Just looks a bit shy and not fully used to it's surroundings. When I first take then out of quarantine to the display, they react to the fish swimming above them for a few weeks before they get "used" to it and fully open.

There is no chance that this clam has too much light. However, they don't need as much as other kinds and you should be just fine with the 6 bulb fixture.

What is on the bottom of it's shell? Looks like another shell of some sort.
