Is This PVC Safe?

I am working on a diy pvc skimmer and cut the wrong hole in the pipe. I watched a video where you can save the fittings and remove the pipe by setting it on fire using pvc glue. It actually worked. I burned it outside to avoid fumes. Now the inside of the fitting is a little black but not burnt. Would it still be safe to use? Does pvc release anything nasty after it cools down? Thanks for the help!

Is it really worth it to save a fitting?

Hiw much are u saving?

I think they were like 15-20 dollars. So not too much but I thought if I only needed a new pipe I could reuse the fittings. Here a photo

Saved a gate before and plan on trying to save a few when I swap out my sump this month as well. Never had an issue.

With gates and ball valves you could save a hundred or more. I know saving my 3 cepex vales is 70 alone and another 40 for the 2 gate valves.

Is the inside smooth again so you won't have any chance of a leak when you re-glue it? If so, it should be fine. My biggest concern would be making the PVC brittle but if it wasn't burned probably it is ok.
