is this rock good?

dun trust it.. who knows whats in that stuff. i dont know rocks well enough to tell if its safe for a tank or not. i will try coral reef farm and exotic aquatic. thats for the info

I can speak for myself and one other reefer that it's not worth it to pick up rock anywhere. The problem is that there can be phosphates that are so embedded in the rocks that they take forever to get out, literally poisoning your tank in the process. I got rid of the two pieces I had in my tank and it looks 10x better since then. The rocks always had green algae growing on them and never grew any coralline while everything else was.

Kat, I've had the same problem with a few rocks. They were fine in my 120, as it could handle the phosphates, having a skimmer and great biological cycle, but when I put one of the rocks into my nano, the algae blew up everywhere, then the xenia died from fluketabs, and I'm still trying desperately to clean up the mess to this day. The rocks were from another reefer's tank though, so ::shrug::.

That's why I'll only put good rock from a reputable dealer in my tank...I would say Exotic or Coral Reef Farms are a good bet. I've got two rocks from exotic and they're great...they didn't start out with much coralline, but they're getting covered now. Never had any funky outbreaks.
