Is my new sedra (sp2) impeller supposed to have this metal coating on it? I've seen pictures of them and they don't look like this. Should I remove it?

What the???? My pump that is marked an SP2 by ER is a gen-x 2400. I guess that's why the impeller is different. After a more careful examination of the pump I see that ER has rubbed out the gen-x markings but left some of the technical details such as 2400 l/h. ER's website states that SP2 is supposed to be a sedra 3500.

I thought genx uses a different style needle wheel than what you have pictured. That looks like a Sedra needle wheel.

Is that nut SS too?

I have both Genx and Sedra pumps, so I know that is the genx impeller. Hope it won't rush later on for you. My genx impeller did. My needlewheel on Sedra 3500 fits nicely in the Genx 2400 tho. I've heard EU is moving to use Genx pump instead of Sedra for newer skimmer.

Thanks for the info. I just ordered some genx 2400 NW pumps a couple of days ago. They are supposed to be with me tomorrow.

ScottyDon't,
How long has that impellar been in service??

What do you mean ... rush later on for me?

Sorry, I meant the metal covers the impellar will be rusted later on. Also, there is a metal cooling on the back of the pump. Mine rusted like hell... I had to throw away the pump... after couple months. But maybe 'cuz my pump was the earlier model, hope they fix the problem now.

That impeller is brand new??

It has rust on it at 6 o'clock!!

that was just dirt... I definitely would have noticed rust on it.
