Hey guys,
I've been doing some plumbing on my tank to add a sump, and as a result I haven't been skimming or running carbon for a week or so. Lighting is 4 T5's. In addition, I have been out of town and my roommates accidentally messed with my light schedule and I was only running blues for 4 days (ATI Blue+), instead of two Blue+, a Purple+, and an Aquablue Special. Two bulbs (both blue+) were actually replaced today. The other two are at 9 months.
I just tested alk and phosphate real quick:
Salinity: 35ppt (refractometer)
Alk: 159ppm CaCO3 equivalent (Hanna)
Phosphate: 0.00 ppm (Hanna)
I am dosing saturated limewater to match topoff needs, so about 1000mL per day on a 20 long with 5.5 sump. I spike the kalk with 18mL/L vinegar.
I got back, and while my fish look well fed, I think I may be experiencing some tissue necrosis. When I plumbed a sump, I lost some flow in my tank and now I only have an MP-10 in the display, whereas I used to have an MJ900 running a reactor and an Aquamaxx HOB-1 skimmer adding flow to the display. Those have since been moved to the sump, but neither are running until I can get my plumbing figured out for certain.
In the pictures below, it looks like the tissue is receding up the coral skeleton. Can someone confirm if this is or is not tissue necrosis? Does anything stick out as a potential cause?
Thanks,
Josh
