Can you say what exact model/manufacturer it is?

If you are plumbing this up as a return pump from a sump, then you will probably be getting ~1000gph of actual flow. For a 75, I don't think it's a lot. Just make sure it's not all be pumped out of a single return. Try to split it off into a couple different directions

I think it will be fine. You can always choke it back a bit with a ball valve if your overflow can't handle it. Are you sure it is rated for salt water?

yes it is the same one I have now just bigger. how do I put it in more directions. the water flows down one end into my sump, through the sump and back out>

I'm assuming you're using PVC for your return line. You can take misc. PVC fittings to split and direct the water which ever way you'd like. You can even use Loc-Line, nozzles, etc. to help with the flow patterns.

Then I'm not sure what to tell ya. Do you know this apparatus can even handle the increase in flow?

He is saying that you can use any sized pump as long as it doesn't overwhelm your overflow.

You should always get the biggest pump your overflow can handle.

Currently I'm using a mag 7 (700gph) on my 55. My overflow could not handle 1000gph

On my new tank there are two overflows that handle 600gph each.

My new pump is rated for over 5000 gph but it is going up about 13ft and through several fittings so it will end up with a great deal less flow due to head loss.
