is this TOO much lighting?

I'm looking at this for my 36 gallon reef tank...

346 watts? Is that too much lighting for my tank? Will my fish get fried?

IMO they should be fine. BUT you have to acclimate them to the halide light. Like start with 20 minutes a day than go from there. Thats what i did (i had power compacts before) and light acclimated my tank. Now its thriving. (i also have an oddesea brand but running a ushio 250 watt 14k bulb) But make sure you have a chiller on the tank if your going to run halide because they will heat the water. Good luck

Would 150W require a chiller? The 29G Biocube comes with a 150 HQI light and doesn't require a chiller.

The 346 is quite alot of light for that small of a tank (no offense)....175w / 250w is more then enough IMO

depends on what your ambeint tank temp is.....IMO if its a hot room then you might want to consider a chiller,

If your running a halide i would be running a chiller unless you always have your room at a cool temp. Why dont you go with straight t5 lighting?? It will do anything from sps to softies. Its less heat on the tank, you can do different color patterns ect ect... Unless you like the shimmering effect that halide does.
