Metal halide is still around just harder to find. The only new reflectors still in the game currently that I can think of are Geissman (a custom order direct from them (shipping is a killer I hear) but a fantastic looking and high quality light) and ReefBrite (more traditional looking but the fixture is designed to not get as “hot” to the touch). Otherwise you’re looking at used fixtures (not necessarily bad but may require cleaning, new bulbs, etc).

Bulbs are also still around. I believe the XM has been discontinued. However some vendors, such as Aquarium Specialty still carry Radium and other brands. A newer start up company, AquaBright Solutions - AQUA BRIGHT SOLUTIONS if I recall correctly is ran by Dave (and another person) from Hamilton and their bulbs should be the same as the former Hamilton bulbs.
Thanks for the information, I appreciate the time. I cant tell from the site, but do the Geissman systems come with MH bulbs? I see that it comes with the T5. And if the MH are included in the price, what I don't see where I can select the temp of the bulbs. I see on the site where I can order MH bulbs an they have a 21k. Holy MH bulbs, I didn't know there was such a thing. As mentioned earlier, I loved by XM 20K.

Based on what I can tell, the both MH and T5 bulbs should be included. However it only specifies “megachrome” and doesn’t give a temperature, of which there’s various temperatures on the website. I don’t see the option for a temperature. From what I’ve been told, they’re pretty customer service oriented and quick to respond to emails.
