I think that is a macro algae, not dino. It looks like a type that you can put in the refugium, but maybe someone else will chime in.

That brown stuff attached to the red macroalgae could be dinoflagellates. Check this out.

I think OP is referring to what's growing on the macroalgae. Looks like dinos to me.

I've been through a couple battles with dinos. Nasty stuff. I don't know if it would help but I would chuck what you can before it spreads. 7 day lights out with the tank wrapped is what worked for me - combined with some pretty aggressive GFO.

Ugh, thanks much, everyone. I'll just have to see where it goes. Funny how its favorite place to grow is on the red algae. Not spreading quickly, though.

It's dinos - I am fighting them as I speak. I got some "magic powder" from my LFS, I really don't know what it is, along with Fauna Marin Bacter, basically additional beneficial bacteria. After 3 days of no lights and adding this stuff I almost got rid of them totally. Lost a birdsnest to dinos - went completely white in a few hours.

Sorry to hear about that coral - I assume dinos just smothered it? I have heard some people get lucky and they just never take off. I'm hoping that's me!
