Is your pump outputting what it used to?

I just switched out my mag 9.5---I'd had a macroalgae incident and the thing had gotten pretty crappy [during a 2 week trip, of course.] Seemed to me its output had declined, and I was getting some cyano in a corner.

Installed the new one, and definitely, this one needs cleaning. I think I was down to a mag 8, in output. I'm going to set it up a vinegar bath soon's I find a bucket large enough not to create a geyser.

Might be a good idea occasionally to look critically at wavy things in your tank to see if they're still waving the way they used to.

I might need a new impeller. Maybe just cleaning. Seems a filter sleeve that should have come with the pump was not installed---my mistake, to hire it done. It naturally took in everything. I now know what the setup is supposed to be.

Having a second return pump in the closet ready to go is not a bad idea, imho.

I have a Rio 2700 SS that has lost a good bit of output and is making more noise than I'd like it to.

I tried cleaning it ( did not use vinager, though), and it is still nt pumping as well.

Maybe I oughta try the vinager bath.
