Not to be a drag, but...

Isnt that about the one biggest thing that brings people together in this hobby? Giving away cheato to help someone drop their nitrates. Offering frags to friends who are just starting out in this hobby. Handing out that one extra mushroom cause' its attached to the rock. Sand, snails, frags...

Needless to say, I have never been involved in a hobby that has so much giving involved. Not to mention it spreads the diversity of life between us and promotes home-aqua cultured specimens.

Certainly I hope no one has been discouraged from being generous with handouts by the recent "wispering" around here. I would have never gotten involved in the hoby if I hadnt taken advantage of it, and because of that I will be the first to cut frags for people when they get big enough.

Am I crazy?

IMHO, no your not crazy. Couldn't agree with you more. Clubs members should be supportive to one another. I think there's a wonderful history among the CMAS memebers in sharing and giving away. Many have been generous to me.

Although the recent angry threads were a little more complicated than this. But they really had nothing to do with helping one another. They were threads where the authors (patially including myself) became aggressive, insulting, immature and eventually spiraled into threats of physical violence. It all could have been handled with considerable more dignity.

To reunite as a community, instead of holding hands and singing Cum-ba-ya, let go to Rod's, get liquired up, and have a nude frag swap!!!!!

Amen brother.
When I first started, I was given many free frags and reef goodies. I never forgot that generosity. I give stuff away to new folks and vets all the time. I only ask that they do the same for someone else.

Nothing wrong with sharing with people in the community but I think some people have been voicing concern that this generosity has been taken advantage of by certain individuals.

How can you judge if someone's taking advantage of other's generousity, if you don't know how much they might be giving away for free too?

when I satarted in this hobby I didnt know squat and still dont know it all but I am still learning any way Once I found Reef Central and a few other boards I found out how geneous people can be
I ahve never bought a frag that I didnt get something for free with it not that I was expecting it its just how most reefers are
I am truley blessed to find thid board and meet so many good people
