ISO:frag plugs

Most any ceramic plug I will use made commercially. Just pick your size and go. As far as making yout own there is a thread on RC. Just make a sand mold. Fill with Portland cement mix wait 24 hrs. Remove from mold and cure for 6-8 weeks. For 10 dollars u can make a couple thousand plugs.

Could make your own ceramic ones as well. I did when I was taking pottery class in school lol.

Clay should be easy enough to obtain and shape as you wish. Let it then dry for a few days. After that you just need to fire them. You either need a kiln (I have a place near me that will do a full load for $50 - that should easily fit thousands of plugs) or you can try firing them yourself, there are some videos online how to do so.

Buying of course would be easiest option and probably cheap enough if you do not need a lot.

Actually just called the pottery place about it. 50lbs of red clay is about $28 and to fire it $50 for full load. As far as person said 50lbs should fill up about whole kiln.

I might do this myself if I get bored in next few days lol.

So you wouldn't hesitate to buy those plugs roger?

Nope I wouldn't hesitate. I like the fact they don't have smooth tops. Some time with super smooth tops the glue doesn't stick well and the corals can fall off because the glue lets go off the plug

I have used these plugs before and they worked great. Not sure what happened to your friends corals. This company does nothing but make frag plugs. i would think if there was something wrong with them they would be out of business and they have been around for a couple years that I know of.
