Issues with my sunset monti - center browns out

Same with mine! Mine is bigger than a dinner plate and grows very fast, it's just straight poopy light brown with only edges showing color. It's been like this for the last year or so and I dont know what could be causing it as my levels are very stable. It has to be one of those things we cannot or dont test for as I have no clue. The only thing that seems to bring back a bit of color is when i do very frequent water changes; it's almost like there are some trace elements or something that are depleted in my system that is momentarily replenished right after water changes because the color fades back very quickly in the following days after. Nothing has changed and I have been using the same form of dosing and salt the entire time.
Whats even more odd is I have tons of SPS that are thought to be very sensitive pieces that continue to thrive; like the ora dustins deepwater, pink panther, ora german blue etc...I dont get it and I am stumped, I've began mounting frags on big brown now as it's so ugly I want to cover it lol.

Double check your salinity. Now that you mention sensitivity of acros vs. montipora, I do recall that montis react to salinity changes more strongly than acros. This has been my experience, anyways.
In fact, I measured mine a couple days ago and realized that I was all the way up to 1.029 or so. Maybe this is the cause? I hadn't really thought of it.

I too have heard this and I've always wondered if it could be my SG but I run an osmolator and calibrate my refractometer every time I use it. I've even tried multiple calibrated refractometers just to make sure mine isn't faulty; and they all give me the same reading. To be fair, every refract I have used has been one of those cheap blue marinedepot ones so maybe I should just bite the bullet and buy a quality refractometer.
