Issues with your support

So I purchased a CO3 protein skimmer from marine depot, Fed 17, 2014. It has worked great until this December. I went to check skimmer and realized it wasn't functioning. So i proceeded to pull the pump out, I received a nice minor electrocution. I sense removed the pump to find the epoxy casing had failed.

The pump is warrantied through Sicce for 3yrs........ So I thought. It would have been if aquamaxx had not of modified it for the skimmer.

So I contacted MarineDepot and got Zero support....:sad2:

Thanks

yeah, girl on the phone was no help. I explained my situation and all she could say was buy a new pump. I feel $200 plus tax every 2.5years for a pump is ridicules

Hello Jason,

Sorry to hear about your pump, but glad you are okay. From the provided picture, the crack looks to be where the end of the impeller would sit. Overheating may have caused the waterproofing to crack, and is usually due to build up on the pump itself causing the impeller to slow or stop, initiating friction. Unfortunately, our warranty only covers your skimmer and pump for 1 year from purchase, and does not cover physical damages, which you may read more about here: http://aquamaxxaquariums.com/support/

Replacement ConeS CO-3 pumps are available at MarineDepot.com for $195.99, if you would like to replace your pump.

Please, let us know if you have any further questions.

Thank you for contacting Aquamaxx,

The pumps in our protein skimmers are modified to meet our performance requirements and are advertised as such. Sicce does not offer warranty coverage for modified pumps, so we step in and offer that 1-year warranty for our customers. We clearly state the pumps are modified and that the warranty is 1-year in all of our documentation online and offline.

Build up of calcium and algae can cause excessive friction between the pump and the impeller. The excessive friction can cause the pump to overheat and fail. Regular cleaning, every 3-4 months, will help to keep the pump and impeller clean and extend the life of the pump.

Sounds like a faulty product, if you ask me. Maybe start looking into a replacement pump that can handle your modifications. I will never support aquamaxx or marine depot again after the lack of support I received.

I will support sicce they are going to help me out even though it's not needed. Nice that someone understands customer service. Ps the pump was cleaned every other month.
