these fixtures have

The IT2080 has been around for a few years now. The IT2081 is new as of a few months ago. It may have more improvements that I don't know about, but I know the new one has an improved case with built-in legs that can be removed. They may have upgraded the case material as well (I'm not sure). OceanRevive sells them and you could ask at their sponsor forum here at RC. They might have switched from a steel & painted case to an aluminum and powder coated case like their T247-B.

If it helps, I have two IT2080 fixtures over my 180g mixed reef and I love them. They have been working 24/7 since Dec 2012.

Thanks Ron ! you were one of the persons that suggested the IT2081 and i found the IT2080 , your the perfect person to answer this question !
My thoughts part numbers are pretty much idenetical so not thinking a whole lot will try asking in the other forum !

I think if you are going to hang the fixture, either one will work well for you.

I bought a similar fixture (Reef Radiance) used from a guy getting out of the hobby (moving) and they use a slightly different controller. It changes modes from Custom to Sunny every 2 or 3 days. I tried to get help but even thought it was fairly new, because I bought it used and didn't get the original receipt, they stone walled my requests for help. I've dealt with OceanRevive on several fixtures (S026 & T247) for my 65g shallow reef and my frag tank and they have been willing to supply parts even for an old fixture, no questions asked.
