did you make the standpipe mark ?

yea, should have taken pictures, it is a slip-fitting, for bridges and docks, I got it from the place I listed in this thread, I did however take out the white insert, then made a new insert from ABS by gouging a channel for the O-ring with my dremel

they have smaller ones at HD

see this thread:

fittings, bulkheads and hose

well I got everything transferred over, just the return pump, skimmer and heater are running, I need to hook up the lights, Kalkwasser and 2-part dosing, ozone, tunze pumps, ACIII computer and other stuff tomorrow.. but for now I am just to tired to even post pics

patience, he will post them, just a matter of time. hahahaha i want to see the picture of the whole stand pipe

you can't see the stand pipe, unless you come over to my place :) I hid it pretty well

as in every build thread, here is the obligatory: "look, I spent all day filling my tank and I am now the proud owner of a box of cloudy water and expensive rocks, arn't you guys impressed" LOL

i will put together a rundown of the transfer soon

img1839sq4.jpg

looks like the only loss from the transfer was my lemonberry OUCH!! everything is a little P.O.ed and I lost many of the tips of my birdsnest, though they will probably recover.. I will try to post build pics this evening

The transfer

The transfer

Saturday was a long day

it started with one last FTS of the old tank

img1830yw3.jpg

then came the arduous task of removing all the frags, dang, I did not know I had that many. brownie points for anyone who can name them all

img1831gu3.jpg

after that I pulled all the colonys, nothing too exotic

img1832ug2.jpg

and all the rock with clams or colonys attached

img1833wn5.jpg

next I laid out all my rock on visqueen so it would be easy to select pieces for the build, luckily it was cool and overcast so I did not have to spend a bunch of time spraying it down to keep it moist. my 2-year old was a big help, moving the rocks around with his tonka truck :)

img1836sa0.jpg

next I used a roto-hammer to drill holes on the rock and then stacked them like a shish kabob on acrylic rod

img1837ha9.jpg

here is my first pillar

it is just over 18" tall

img1838qu8.jpg

from this point on, my hands were way too wet to take any more photos, but I did complete transering all the rock and aditional water into the tank,

By the time I was done Saturday all I had done was to get the return pump, skimmer, O3 generator, heater and chiller running . nothing else, not even the lights, just enough to keep everything alive over night. the tank ad cleared up nicely in 10 hours here is a side shot through 6 feet of water

img1846of6.jpg

I set up a cable management trough to try and organize my cables and tubes. this way wires are out of the way but I do not have to cut zipties to service equipment

img1873vw3.jpg

I installed a DC-4 in the wet section of the stand to control the kalkwaser pump, 2-part pumps, fuge light and heater

img1872lx2.jpg

in the dry section I installed the ACIII, DC-8, lunersim and Aquasurf to control the fans, lights, chiller, 6100's etc. I know it looks messy but there is an amazing amount of wires in there and everything is laid out in a manner that allows easy access for servicing. there are 2 fans that I have not installed yet to force 100 cfm of fresh air into the dry section to keep my ballasts and chiller happy

img1871fy9.jpg

here is my first FTS with the lights on, with no tripod and no photo skills, I put one 6100 blowing through the canyon between the first and 2nd pillar, kind of cool as it hides it well and creates the kind of current you would expect in a small crack in a real reef. those helios 20ks sure turn that navy blue lighter than I expected, no matter, it will all be green, purple and pink in a few months

Hey Mark did you accidentally frag any of that purple cap during the move. I lost the piece that I got from you awhile back.

it broke but I did not find the frags, if you want to stop by this weekend, I will hook you up, that thing has just sick color now

bigger tank runs cooler?

bigger tank runs cooler?

so this is odd, the tank runs a lot cooler than my last one. the equipment is almost exactly identical the only thin I did was replace a korelia 3 and modded maxi with a pair of 6100s

the chiller has not turned on once. the heater comes on in the day. before the transfer, I kept my tank at 79 because that is where the chiller seemed at ease, I am considering lowering to 77

in this graph, you can see how the chiller would turn on in the day, I circled those in blue, then you can see the transfer, circled in green. then you can see the heater circled in red

aquanotes.. nice...you offically suck.. lets just say a lil jealious

i saw the oregon tort frag nice job, i saw the pink stylo as well in your tubs pictures stood out like a flashlight on there. gald to see the transition is well so far. and a good ata experience for you.

yea that stylo is one of my favorites,

whipity-dipity-dee aquanotes, you have a 10" cap growing on a power cord, you have nothing to be jelous about.. your tanks and colonys, not frags, but large mother colony are stunning, so you suck :)

you had to mention the cap and my powerhead... the powerhead died yesterday... tryn to get a crab out of my tank i decided it was over due for servic and yep. then i broke the impellar. got ****ed off and broke colony off of cord and put in other tank. a dumb move by me which i now regret. oh well. all in a day with reefing.

i notice u have two braces top on your tank, how wide are the braces and how do u like your overflow.

I will have to mesure them but I would guess 10" each. I specificly ordered them as narrow as possable. I like the overflow a lot. I did end up setting a large pvc cap over the strainer to quiet it down, now it is all but silent
