[/IMG] This is the airgap faucet with the drain section omitted. the airgap section is for the waste water part. Thanks for the advise guys.

no its sold as a sink mounted faucet with a 3gl can under sink, the insructions show how to hook it up to an ice maker also. Weird part is that when I went to HD for some parts, Watts makes all the parts also, but they dont sell this system there.

Ok I've read conflicting imfo on ro water. Should it be mixed with a pump prior to using it as top off water. I know for water changes the salt mix fixes it, but what about straight up ro water?

Uhhh, I have never heard of that (Mixing RO before using)??
I sure as heck don't mix mine, it just sits in a barrel till I pull it out and put it in a 5G bucket for my main tank.

how hard was it to hook that thing up like that. ill be ordering mine in a couple months and id like to set it up under the sink like that instead of mounting it in the garage, running a hose when i want to use it, blah. Hey what can i say im an electrician not a plumber. :(

Not as hard as you'd think if you have basic plumbing skills.

Dpsc;ao,er beomg tjat upi are sp,ewjat ;o,oted bu

Ooops... Right hand was off by one letter on the keyboard.

Disclaimer being that you are somewhat limited by what you have to work with in the way of existing plumbing. If you have a shot shut-off valve is about the biggest speed bump.

ok cool next question the airgap drain. will it also except the dish washer drain hose since my dishwasher runs through the airgap before pumping the waste water into the garbage disposal. i would really love to be able to hook this up for drinking water the system im looking at has a way to bypass the DI so it can be used for drinking. Its cool the company that sells it caters to reefers and it comes with one of those meters that anlyzes the water.

I teed my RO w/1 line going to drinking tap, 1 line heading to DI then on to tank area. The airgap thing you'll have to work out depending on the mfgr. Mine sold me a Y to airgap in the dishwasher.

yeah i think thats how the system im gonna buy is set up. I would love to get rid of Alhambra home delivery. Now thats a money pit. Already have to pay water to the house. Then my wife wants to spend 30+ a month on water i can't use on my reef. lol So i still have to go by 10-15 gals of water for my reef each week. haha women can be so impractical. jk

That's exactly how I justifed my unit.
I was spending 50+ a month for bottled water with Crystal Water and a rental cooler.

My Typhoon III was $200

My own cooler (Got a tricked out one) for another $200 but others can be had for cheaper.

and two 5G water jugs from WinCo for $25 for both

So investment of $425 to go to my own water away from Crystal.

12 months spending $50+ a month on water = $600 a year!!!
So my system paid for itself in 8.5 months!

And the aquarium water thing is just an added bonus for FREE!!!

Scott, that is awesome you were able to squeeze your filter under your sink. I got stuck putting mine in the garage next to the water heater.

Steve, that is one sick cooler! Going with your own equipment will definitely pay off over time. But in all fairness, you need to include filter replacement costs for your own system (and water if you are metered and really want a true comparison). I only bring this up because I'd like to figure out my own costs...

How do I find out the life of a filter? I have a 5 stage and want to estimate my own replacement schedule and costs.

I replace ALL my filters once a year (Including RO membrane)
And replace my sediment filter once every 6 months (Or sooner if it starts to look really bad)

ALL the filters for my system run like $38.00 shipped to my door, so that cost is not even an issue when you look at the cost savings over the year you use them.

I really doubt you can make much of an impact on your water meter unless you are REALLY CRANKING out RO for weeks a month.
