Thanks Ocean Drive! I had pics of his tank and was going to upload it yesterday. What i noticed is that the pics you posted show insane growth to what I have. My pics are 2 yrs old. ;) Thanks for sharing! Definitely another mature SPS tank!

The Aster's (Nando Masciadri) tank is 5 years old, the Danilo Ronchi one is 4 years old, the new one of Alessandro Rossi (Alexalbe) is 1 year old (if i'm correct), others are older.
I think there is no Italian secret, i think every SPS reefer is looking in a very important manner to water parameters and of course intense light help.
Intensive light means also high quantity of calcum and other elements that are requested from the corals to grow, in the same way we have to feed....
Water flow, we all use an intensive water flow, in Aster's tank you can see 4 Tunze (2x7400 and 2x6100), iin Danilo's tank if i remember correct there are 2 Tunze 6000, the others i dont' rembember.

Bye

Thanks Gilberto. This is the information my friend was looking for (flow). I will pass this on to him. Im glad to see the Italians show such a great success.

Are there any new methods that the Italians are trying now? I know ZEOvit was big then.. but any new fads today?

Edward, why is the hormone illegal in The U.S.?

So no way to get it?

Dosing "I and F" what's the "F"

Thanks,

Todd

HGH (Human Growth Hormone) is regulated by the U.S. meaning it has to be prescribed. Bodybuilders, AIDS patients, children and other medical candidates use HGH. Im not sure if you ever seen a true competiting bodybuilder in person... but they are twice the size of an average man. The reason for this is because HGH makes your bones and muscles grow once again after your body has stopped when you become an adult. Thats why bodybuilders have the square jaw look.. and even women hardcore bodybuilders.

I and F? Did I say that? Most likely that is Iodine or Fluoride.

Firt time I've heard of GH used in an Aquarium. My quess is it is illegal because it is a Human Growth Hormone used by body builders to incease growth.

Hmmm.....one for the tank. one for ME!! 1001 , 1002, 1003....Did you get your ticket yet?? To the GUN SHOW! haha

O.K., that doesn't make sense. If body builders can get it, why couldn't we get it for our tanks? What about AGH (animal growth hormone like for cattle etc?).

Or, do the body builders get it illegally?

Also curious about the MG levels and WHAT product are they using to dose it? (ie..something like dolimite in a CA reactor, a comercial aquarium additive, or Mg Sulfide Salt from the pharmancy)

Thanks,

Todd

They get it illegally or they have a doctor prescribe it. It's all about connections. I've never heard of AGH. I would assume its similiar because a lot of the steroids today are meant for animals such as equipose (horses).

I will let the Ocean Drive or the Italians speak about Mg if they would like too. :) The problem with Mg in a reactor is the problem of dissolving it. A Ca reactor usese 6.2-7.1 or so to dissolve the media. Supposedly Mg media takes lower PH to dissolve. So if you have 6.7, the Mg media is just sitting there. A seperate reactor is ideal for this. Now, you can dose in liquid form too.

There are numerous steroids on the market right now for cattle and horses...a growth hormone should be easy to attain if you look in the right spots. The question then becomes what side effects does this cause to your reef? I'm sure there are other chemicals in the GHs for livestock that could be detrimental. It'd definately be an experiment!

Chelsey, where/how can you get these GHs for Livestock?

I might set up a QT tank and try some out. (PM me if you like)

Thanks,

Todd
