Italy's Best! Matured SPS Aquariums.

also, do you turn your skimmer off (or down) prior to dosing the AA or the pappone? I added some seachem Reef plus per the directions on the bottle, and my skimmer started going nuts. do the AA need to be added slowly?

I have skimmed the thread mildly, but I was wonder exactly what type of Growth hormone you are using in your pappone I know that Samatotrope refers to what it does in the cell itself.

Most are not using a growth hormone. L-Glutamine or Aspertane, Reef Plus AA's, ect

It seem a little misleading because these are simple amino acids not growth hormones, if you are calling them Growth hormones because they aid in the growth of the corals that that is fair, but then you would also have to include everything else in the combination a growth hormone too. Maybe I have been mislead by my mentor in the Bio-chem department but I think that there is a flaw the use of hormone (a ligand that is induced in a biological system in order to stimulate the production of growth factors.) Amino acids are the building blocks of the protein the hormone was sent to create. Sorry for going of on a tirade, but this has been such an informational thread and I just want to help clear up a few gray areas.

Not calling the AA's HGH. Yes they have been used. The HGH breaks down into 100+ different AA's when used in the Pappone. It is way to expensive and illegal here in the U.S. It is now a necessary ingredient. Use the L- Glutamine or another source of AA's.

L- Glutamine is really easy to come by in highly potent powder here in the US, so I would imagine this is the most cost effective AA. Anyone disagree?

The issues involved in finding coral growth hormone was my concern, I didn't know if their was a black market in Italy where you guy where getting it. I am going to dose ELOS AA mix and see how it does I will report back my findings. Thanks again for sharing the awesome wealth of knowledge and not being offended by my tirade.

Agree 100%. That's what I use with good results

Johnthan, I think you can buy it in a gel capsule form in the vitamin section. Either that or I am sure that you can purchase it through a online chemical supply like www.sigma-aldrich.com.
Bought mine in a natural food and vitamin store. Would like to find asperatic acid. From what I understand it works even better.

Dark Xerox, any chance of getting this article translated? Please:D

Maybe sometime this summer since I've been swamped with work.

I have read this entire thread, and it is great, but exhausting.

I know it was said somewhere, but I can't find where i wrote it down.

If you use glutamine, how is the best way to add it (straight to the tank, dripped somehow, etc.)? and how much are you using per gallon and how often? Do you only use it when you feedm or do you use it daily? and is there an on off cycle like with vitamin C?

I add one 500mg capsule to the recipe. First the ro/di water then empty the capsule and the sugar into the water. Turn on the blender for a sec. then add the shell fish and blend the heck out of it.
