mike, i am new to the hobby and have never seen a ower center. id you make it or buy it. can you tell me anything about these, it sounds like just what we need. Roxane

I built the power center, which is nothing more than plugs and switches on a backboard in a cabinet, with two heavy duty electrical plugs used as the "feeds" to the power center. The feeds were plugged into individual circuits with GFCI plugs.

There are several threads on RC about power centers. Some are as simple as enclosing power strips or as elaborate as full electrical housings with heavy duty on/off switches, lights, etc. There are also strips that have 8 toggle switches with plugs in the back that make it real easy to keep things neat and tidy (here's a link: http://www.cheaplights.com/catalog/01_info.php?sec=132).

Above all, remember that you need to match your wiring, switches, plugs, etc so that everything matches the circuit breaker that you are connected to. For example, if you are connecting this to a 20amp breaker, you shouldn't have a draw that is more than 16amps and all of your wiring, plugs, etc should be 20amp rated.

DISCLAIMER: I am not an electrician and unless you are, you should talk to a licensed electrician for guidance and/or have them do the work.

Anyone that would like more pictures of the Power Center showing the back or anything else.....Just ask.

I am the one that purchased it from Mike. It is still not in use but I plan to install it in the next 2 weeks when I move a tank from room to room.

I can take and show you pictures but as stated in Mike's Disclaimer, I am not an electrician and recommend you talk to a licensed electrician with questions other than general.
