We actually did a major website / shopping cart upgrade in March '10, a little over a year and a half ago. While it did fix a lot of the bugs the old website had, we still have the issue of not having real-time inventory online.
We do try to keep some of the more popular items that are out of stock on our website up to date and marked as that. However, with the amount of products we carry it can be a daunting task to do at times. We are in the process now of reviewing some different shopping cart and order processing software that would indeed have this capability of having real-time inventory on the website at all times, so hopefully this will be something we have in the near future.
