Some of you may know that for a while now I have been trying to get rid of my Zoo's and mushrooms by any means possible fragging, flushing etc. Well..... today it was WAR! I had a little bit of down time today and I figured I would finally stomp this on going issue out for good. For those of you who are thinking what is he talking about? Here is a look at my tank with the nuisance zoos and mushrooms that have taken over practically my whole system.

So I decided the only way to get rid of the problem was to simply remove it And this is what Ive got! Please pay close attention to the reference in size of these rocks and also how many I removed. And for those of you who are like dam you should have called me or pm'd me I would have loved to take some of those of your hands well don't speak to soon because I still have an 8 gallon BC stocked full of them!

Thats alot of zoo's. I like the garden look of them in a tank, so it wouldnt of bothered me. I would've just scraped them off and put some prettier ones in their place.

Good luck with that. As wet as it is, they could take over your back yard. Now that would be cool. Good luck with it all Corey. Do you think this will make your tank go back into a cycle?

If I do it right I don't think so. Ive done this once before using a cup of bleach and a 5 gallon bucket of water then letting the rock dry out and then following up with a rinse of fresh ro water and letting it dry out again. I actually got this technique from Klaus. He said thats what he does with rock that has sat out too long and has alot of dead stuff on it. If i get all the dead zoos and mushrooms off along with what ever else is on there ill be fine.

Hey Jade if you want some zoo's I will bring them to the next meeting.

Thats how much the Zoo's and shrooms took over. I want to start doing more with sps that's the main reason why I did it. When I get my rock preped I wanna start a thread on aquascape ideas driven more toward sps and frags. Phil I think I talked to you a bit about this last time I was over.

Ok Corey. I am following along here in your foot steps. I took out a couple of peices of LR that had some macro on it that I did not like. They are sitting out on my patio table now.

Now I just need to figure out how I want to redo my rock when it is all said and done.

Keep us posted on how your rock is going over the next few days

Omg!

Omg!

OMG, I would LOVE some for my son's school tank. People have been donating corals, but the ones I love the most are the zoas and mushrooms! If you have any left I would love some. Problem is, I'm in West Lafayette, so we'd have to figure out how to get them.

Ok so today I brought the rock back into my garage to Soak it in bleach water for a day. I ended up with four 5 gallon buckets full of rock that's how much the zoos took over! Anyways I will let it soak In Bleach water for 24 hours after the 24 hours I will scrub the dead stuff off using a scrub brush. After this a fresh water rinse and then dry. Next will perform a 40 gallon water change on my main system I will keep the old water in my water changing trash can and put the dried rock in with heater and pump. I decided to move my display back I to my living room do to the fact I would like to someday hold a club meeting. I will keep everyone posted of my progress. I will also be posting pics.

Hey Corey, Thanks a ton for the corals. They opened right up when I got them in my tank. Keep me in mind if you get anything else to frag or get rid of.
