Hello all. Its been about a year since i have been on here, starting a business right now has taken almost every hour i have free. My 75 has pretty much been on support mode. I lost a lot in august because of a heat spike while out of town but only lost the plethora of monti's. But i need some help. I need a new heater if anyone has one reasonable or down right cheap and i need some algae help. I know most of it is from neglect but i have this nasty brown algae about the consistancy of cotton balls taking over the tank and killing sps. Any help in getting it taken care of would be appreciated. I'm down to only one fish, my longtime friends have jumped out over the last year and either became fish jerky behind the tank or dog food so there is no grazing except a few snails. Skimmer is chugging away but i miss my asm, i traded up for a aquac almost 18 months ago and it just does not seem to do the job. Any help would be appreciated....

I would got back to a better skimmer, do some heavy water changes for a couple weeks, and as sazama said switch bulbs.

The bulbs have been my leading suspect. The skimmer is supposed to be a better one, just doesn't feel that way.

I'm happy I didn't switch, I was going to but stuck to my guns and stayed with my ASM G4x's with much happiness. Bulbs and clean up crew. Get some clean up crew and stay on top of the WC's. I would also get in there with a 1/2" tube and suck out as much as you can. I would suggest a GFO reactor. I would keep your eye out on the sale forum for a phosban reactor, but I bet someone here has one.
