It's December, when is the January swap???

I see on the RCS website that there will be a swap in January but no date, time, or place. It's typically the last weekend in January, but it would be nice to see it advertised.

I would also like to hear what locations are being mentioned for the spring swap. If there have not been any places set in stone, this side of PA has 4 or 5 saltwater stores, why not bring a swap to an area that obviously supports a large customer base as opposed to trying to get us all to go to an area without even one store.

The January swap has always been at That Pet Place. I have not heard confirmation for this year. Also, based on previous years, it will be either Jan 24 or 25.

I assumed the January swap was at TFP. I was hoping the one after would be moved from Williamsport to a better location for the bulk of us.

Selfishly like the Williamsport location since that is only a half hour drive for me. I think that one is usually in the Spring?

Also, we don't have any saltwater stores here.

The Winter event will be Feb 7, 2015 . It will be at the Farm and Home center in Lancaster PA. I will post the details when I work out the last few things that are still not locked in. The Spring swap may be in Allentown PA but I can not confirm this at the moment. I have been working on this with the small BOD we currently have so please bear with me . Volunteering the amount of time and brain space required to make this all happen is no easy task. TY for the support !

Allentown? Holy smokes! Darn I was hoping to stock up on coral for my new tank, but I don't know if I am going to go all the way down there.

Details for the winter swap are now posted at ReefConservationSociety.org and our FragSwapper listing will be active very soon.

Good news for all you Central Pennsylvania folks - We'll be holding regular sales at Williamsport Area High School starting in February. Everyone will be welcome to purchase from the school system. Stay tuned for details.

Besides the spring swap we're also going to work on a summer event very soon. Going to have a lot in store for everyone!

Well this is great news for sales at the High School! As indicated in my prior post there is nowhere to get coral here so this is a welcomed addition!

No longer at the store? Well thats a bummer.

No one said "no longer at the store" !!! They are in the middle of renovations and the space we used to pack with 400+ people is currently under construction . Future events may be held at the store. TFP continues to support RCS and we appreciate the partnership with such a great store. I will keep you posted on when the next store event will take place. Thank you for the support

Unfortunately the rural area and historically small attendance realized at the Williamsport swaps is not in the best interest of the society. I would love all the events to be in my back yeard, but this can't happen. :)

I somewhat understand, but at the same time there is probably some kind of compromise that can happen there and still draw people. Possibly still a location in this area somewhere, but more centrally located for the city folks. The idea of selling coral at the High School is a nice addition though.

There are some stores around there that would make it worth the drive

Haha. I do make the drive down to TFP every so often as it isn't terrible drive. I guess I will just have to bite the bullet and make it to one of these other swaps.

What are some of the others down there that would be good for coral?

Northampton-Something Fishy-very nice place

Wilkes-Barre-Finsanity-decent. I think the owner is making a good effort but the place could use some polishing up to look nice.

Pittston-Pet Zone-a little better than Finsanity. Think the Mom and Pop version of PetCo, please a reptile zoo in the basement.

Tannersville area-Ultra Corals or Knockout Aquatics-Both are very nice and within 5 minutes of each other.

If I was making a road trip, I would hit Something Fishy, then Ultra and Knockout before heading back to Amish country. I don't think the other two are worth much of a drive and are too far from the nice stores to make them worth swinging by.
