Thanks
makes me wanna give all my FW away so I can convert my pond to a SW lagoon

It appears that today may be the day that the lagoon has met its demise.....:(. I walked into the room behind it only to get wet feet, cut a whole in the drywall to find a rather large wet spot and wet wood underneath. I believe it to be nearly impossible to find a leak in a rubber liner that covers a 6'x12' area 2' deep covered in 1000# of live sand and another 1200# of Live rock and many corals....UUGGGHH and F@#!.

do you have a containers to put your corals in? Koi show tanks work very well and hold about 400 gallons. maybe your local koi club could loan you a couple.

how bad/fast is the leak?

Carl

man...that sucks!!! Do you have enough rubbermade's to hold it all while replacing the liner? Or are you just going to do away with it entirely?

Maybe you could do a plywood, fiberglass and epoxy liner for the existing exterior of the lagoon. If I were closer I'd come over and give you a hand :(

the leak is slow and I am hoping that I can make it until the replacement tank gets here, although I have no clue when that will be as I just faxed over my specs the Midwest Acrylics last night at 10, along with a desperate email explaining my dilema. They were great when my glasscages 240 broke a fews years back and quickly built me a replacement. I am going with 96x48x28 deep would go bigger but not sure if I can even get that down to the basement with major demo to the house, would love to have 60 wide(sigh). I guess it will be time to start the next chapter in my reefkeeping hobby.

have you considered just waterproofing the enclosure you have? thoroseal, spray on polyurethane, or fiberglass. all used on koi ponds and you could keep the footprint you have. maybe cheaper too!

Carl

i know how you feel.. my 900 gallon pond liner lagoon has a leak.. i lowered th water level a little and it stops.. but if it goes over that level it leaks.. still finding the pin hole is going to be a hard one.. looking forward to your progress

I've been researching spray on liners and other various ways to save what I have, but for every 10 positive thing I find out I come across the one that didn't work. I do not want to go through the trouble of tearing down this bad boy and redoing it only to get a leak again down the road. Really leaning towards a big acrylic now.

and yours is BEAUTIFUL mine is 2x4 and liner..lol.. very not finished.. really big acrylic.. thats costly...lol... wil be following for sure..

the spray on ployurethane is bulletproof and used on many of the high end ponds. call a local koi dealer and ask if they know an installer and at least get a price. i think you may be surprised.

That is just terrible news about the liner, I have really enjoyed this lagoon.

Looking forward to the the new 96 x 36 though!
