Flooding in the sump due to the restart of the skimmer: how to avoid it

HYDOR-ESKIM-DC-01.jpg

Has it ever happened to you that, after a power outage in a marine aquarium, the glass of the skimmer suddenly filled up with water and then flooded the sump, dispersing its painstakingly collected contents?

This happens because during a blackout the water level in the sump rises, and therefore when the current returns and the skimmer starts working, it finds itself with a greater hydrostatic height and immediately begins to fill the glass, which then overflows with all the content collected in the previous days.

To avoid this, we at Hydor, have integrated delayed switch on into our E-Skim DC skimmers.

We make life easy for aquarists, it comes naturally to us.
