its hip to be square....

We had our local swap is weekend and I picked up a few pieces and a clam also redid my sump, removed all the rock that was in it. Cleaned out any debris I had in there and now it only houses equiptmnent and is much easier to get to. I am having a custom sock drawer built which will take up less space and make changing socks easier.

Few new pieces plus my dog in her costume.
Checked water today às follows
Po4 0
Nitrate 7-10
Calcium 480
Alk 9.9
Mag 1150 (raising it slowly)
Nitrates been holding around there, which isn't bad but I'd like a little lower. I might take my gfo offline, I have been reading that to lower some nitrates you need a little po4. I'm hoping to start to get some growth soon.
So I do have a question regarding my calcium reactor though, my demand is still low but it's increasing. So I'm keeping it online and I have my numbers set to kick on at 7.00 and off when it gets to 6.95. It's been holding right around 7, but the reactor kicks off/on periodically throughout the day. How often do you guys have your reactor kicking on and off?

Well tonight I epoxied a few frags down and added some more media to my reactor including remag. I have struggled to keep my mag up high enough. It's been dipping pretty low, so hopefully this will help keep it up. Not needing to dose it manually, just using my calcium reactor to help it.

Mag is finally up to about 1250. Still a little on he low side, but I will get it there. Alk is holding steady between 8.6-8.9 lately and I'm happy with that range. Few corals have started to lay a base down and I hope they start to grow upwards soon.
Need to learn how to use this canon camera and get some good pictures up.

Great tutorials/primers in the photography section for that.. practice makes perfect, just post all the practice shots up ;)

I felt like the biggest payoffs were Getting white balance correct then Having a 1:1 Macro lens available to use myself.

my first few dumps of photos were with shutter priority set (Av) and then tweaking the white balance in software. I shot 50-100 shots in 20 minutes and used 3-5. I think my last set I shot 15 and used 5 so slowly getting a little better.

Picked up a few pieces today I'll snap some pictures and pat them online tomorrow

Well numbers are holding steady which is important. Nothing is dying so I assume it is slowly growing  colors are looking good. At some point I can see myself needing to add a second halide to the tank. As things grow more and everything isn't so centralized in the tank. One thing I like about the halide setup is there is no real question of par numbers...:D

I know I do Larry. I also want to finally learn how to use my real camera
It's like a giant frag tank now, will be so happy when everything starts to grow out.

I bet. I am getting out of a rut and getting my stuff back in line.

I am going to take my garage, close it, and make it into a fish room.

Well that is what I have planned at least. LOL

Found him out in the open enough to get a quick picture. I like this guy, he's pretty cool but hides all the time. Occasionally I'll find his "shell" on my Vortech where he has molted.
