Iwaki pump

I am thinking of buying a WMD 40RXLT, I have a 55 w1.5" bulkhead and a 30g sump, I am planning to upgrade to a 75 w/dual overflows. Would this be to much pump for my 55

Thanks

In my opinion, the american made Iwaki pumps are loud. I have sound clips of one vs a Panworld here .

I also think that's too much flow for a return pump. If you really need that much flow in your main tank, it would be more efficient to use powerheads or a closed loop, with a small return pump. Five times display volume would dictate you'd need a ~350GPH return pump.

I agree on the flow...keep it slower through the sump. Maybe an Iwaki 20...its a little large now, but would be ok on the 75 .

Pan World and Iwaki are very similar...I have used them both. I kinda like the yellow of the Pan World, hahaha.

I agree

I agree

Spend the extra money on the md pumps, I run a md 20 rxlt and a md 30 rxlt japanese made and they are super quiet and very efficient pumps. I just ordered a blueline, to see the difference between Iwaki and blueline, I sure like the price of the blueline compared to Iwaki.

Deffinitely the 40 would be two much, I think I would run the 20rxlt on a 55 and supplement with powerheads

I just got my iwaki wmd30rlxt running on my chiller and it is almost as quiet as my fridge when it's running. very happy with it.
