Jacksons rainbow tenuis makes a new home in florida

I may try the Reeflux in the 250w DE, still haven't decided on what bulbs to run, will be supplementing with around 70 3w RB, BL as well. Throwing in some WW,UV, Lime and Cyan as well for when halides aren't on.

Man, I am so subscribed.
I remember seeing this coral in Jackson's tank, way back when and being totally blown away by it.
If you can do to it what you've done with your OT.. And Hawkins....... And purple monster.. Etc... it'll be superb.
Can't wait to watch it grow out.

Don't feel bad Chris, I lost most of the red color on my colony. My tank has been in shambles over the last few months, but I have it under control now. This tenuis is a PITA to keep color. It had the best red color when my nitrates were 10ppm, po4 .03, and I was feeding 3 times daily with 20 something fish in a 130g system. I was also doing prodibio/specialblend/nite out.
Now, I'm not sure if it's the feedings, or bacteria/carbon dosing, or the combination of both. Definitely something about this is key. In a regular low nutrient tank under 400w radium this corals remains a solid blue. I had this coral for several months in an old low nutrient system(same light) and never saw the red highlights until it hit my current system.

I'm trying my best to get he colors back now. I'll post with future progress.

Thanks for the great information Rich. I have also had coral issues ever since I got back from vacation. Random RTN STN my 10k lamp stopped working  I love this hobby. I am now running a 12k reeflux:hmm2: . enough of the complaining ! I moved this one to a better spot.

Jacksons Rainbow is pushing out branchs and growing fast now. It's a beautiful coral and hope someday soon I can bring that pink out of it.

Growing nice Chris. I am getting some of the red back to my colony. I'm currently running all t5, but I wouldn't give the lighting credit. Once I started dosing prodibio full strength, and feeding the tank normally, the red highlights began showing up. It's not like it was, but I see it improving. Your tank looks pretty clean so I am not sure if you would benefit from a carbon source. Even with carbon dosing, I'm running 5-10ppm no3 all the time.

Looking good. Definitely starting to take off.
Thanks Matt. I had enough corals that have been duds and not grow much at all. These two definitely are not. My OP tenuis also grows fast .

Rich yours looks great. The second piece started to RTN at the base when I having problems with everything. I cut it off the rock at the base and have it on a frag plug now. That one also is growing fast also. I will get a picture soon.

Me (the originator) am currently growing mine back out from a few 2" frags. I lost most of my tank mostly due to neglect from a busy work schedule and new baby. I'm currently getting things back on track. I restarted my tank with new sand and rock. Unfortunately nothing impressive to show with the tenuis at the moment. I'm just glad that I still have some. When I get it to color up again I'l post pics.
