Janurarys meeting will be at the home of Jason Weiner
4507 S Gum, Broken Arrow, ok 74011

around 111th and Elm

This month we are going to be doing a food class. How to make your own food for your calls and your fish.I will warn you that it might get a little stinky at the meeting. This little workshop has always been fun and I hope to see everyone there.

Ahh yes nothing like the smell of freshly made food. I'm excited for this meeting and looking forward to 2012

I am pretty sure its chili. The club normally buys the soda and water so bring whatever side goes with chili or bring some chili. We just need to make sure we eat before we make the fish food.I know I would not be able to eat chili afterwards.

Rumor has it, that the all new www.OMAS.org website will be launched by the date of the meeting.

Has anyone considered stepping up as the club photographer? It sure would be nice if every meeting someone with a really nice camera would take pics of the members tanks, and corals, so we could document it on the members page on the website.

I know there are a couple of people in the club with some mad photog skills!

Nice!!!!! member tank pictures are coming back? Man! sounds like you all are getting your stuff together. i might have to renew. this is GREAT! two monthly workshops in a row + pictures and sup-commitees. I'm stoked. keep it up! great to hear the club is getting back on track. Im not very good with a camera but i am totally willing to help with other stuff the club needs. good times!

I know someone will step up but I want to know who will maintain the position. We have had several club photographers in the past but after a few months the would just disappear. We have even had photo contests in the past but they didn't last.I can always hope this year will be different.

What is the most popular? What are the options?

Right now, I feed a pretty big variety:

Thera A pellets, both micro, and large.
(fresh) chopped up shrimp
(fresh) chopped up scallops
(frozen cubes) PE Mysis
(frozen cubes) Enriched Brine
(frozen cubes) Plankton
(frozen cubes) Krill
(frozen cubes) H2O Coral food (phyto, rotifers, etc)

I dont feed it all at once obviously, but I like to mix it up depending on the day/week, and give the fish and corals a change in meals. I know even if I really love lasagna, i wouldnt want to eat it every day for the rest of my life. so i give my fish the same respect. lol

I feed my fish pretty much the same thing every day now for years. If they tell me they want a switch then I will do it.For the most part all of the items for the mix will be purchased at the Asian food market.

LOL. I wasnt saying that feeding one thing all the time was bad. I guess I have fn mixing up their diet a little. Its probably more for my benefit.

Also, I understand that we will be making fish food from fresh seafood, I just dont know what the options were as far as squid or fish, or bivalves, or what?

what do the fish like the best?
