Jawfish tail

I bought 2 yellowhead jawfish from the lfs last week. I saw one of the jawfish's tail was gone 2 days ago and it looked like it was bit off. The other jawfish's tail was completely fine. Everything in my tank is in my sig. When I see them together , they don't seem to try and hurt each other so I'm not sure what it could be. Any suggestions?

I knew Bluespots lost there tail under stress, I guess Yellow heads do also?

Yea I heard that about BSJF losing their tail due to stress. The reason why I though it was a bite mark was because the top fin looks like it is also a little bit damaged.

I've heard they can be territorial towards other burrowing fish. Is it possible they are too close to each other? I think I read they need about one to two feet distance between each other. Don't know how accurate that info is but figured it was worth sharing. I plan to eventually get a male/female pair and am planning on making the ends of my tank DSB and the center SSB. Hopefully this will make them keep their distance.

My Starry Blenny was very aggressive toward the Yellowhead to the point I had to separate the two.

I've heard they can be territorial towards other burrowing fish. Is it possible they are too close to each other? I think I read they need about one to two feet distance between each other. Don't know how accurate that info is but figured it was worth sharing. I plan to eventually get a male/female pair and am planning on making the ends of my tank DSB and the center SSB. Hopefully this will make them keep their distance.

It is possible but the only times I saw them together was when I was moving the rocks around.

I bet if you placed a pile of rock rubble and shells on each end of the tank they'd each decide to build a burrow near the piles.

My Starry Blenny was very aggressive toward the Yellowhead to the point I had to separate the two.

I notice my blenny follows it but never attacks it.

There is tiny pieces of rock/ rubble on both sides of the tank from when I chiseled a big Rock but they always go to the same rock structure.

Wow... my bluespot jawfish went carpet surfing, was batted around by my cat and even picked up in it's teeth(When I stood up and said no the cat dropped it).. and it still didn't lose it's tail.. I wonder how badly stressed it needs to be to lose it's tail. haha.

I do not think it fell off because of how uneven it is. Can't really take a picture because he is hiding somewhere .

Could it be a bristle worm at night when the fish is asleep in the same burrow?

In my Jawfish Tanks I have a bunch of Bristleworms, its never been an issue.

Breeding brings on a bunch of stress to the female and male.

Wow, I never heard of a jawfish losing a tail-like a lizard.

I had a breeding pair of tiger jaws and they shared each others burrow and lived next to each other.

Are you certain you don't have a crab or some other hitchhiker?

Not sure if I have a hitchhiker but I could always make a trap.
